Our own dog, Chauncey, is not just a beloved member of our family, but also a muse for our photography. Chauncey is a 5-year-old pit bull mix with a sweet and goofy personality. When it comes to photography, Chauncey is a natural model. He has a charming smile, expressive (and quite crossed) eyes, and loves to play and explore. Capturing his energy and spirit through our photos is always a fun and rewarding experience.
The key to capturing great photos of Chauncey is to understand his personality and find the right environment for him to shine. When taking photos of Chauncey, we always make sure he is comfortable and relaxed. This is essential to ensure that he is having a good time and that we are capturing genuine expressions and moments.
Living in Chicago, one of our favorite environments to shoot are the many parks around the city. The open space and natural light provide the perfect backdrop for capturing Chauncey's playful and energetic personality. During our park photo shoots, we let Chauncey run around and play in between posed portrait sessions. This way, we are able to capture his natural movements and expressions, which make for energetic and sometimes funny candid photos along with portraits in our signature style.
Another tip for shooting great photos of your own dog is to have plenty of treats and toys on hand. Chauncey loves treats, and using them as a motivator during photo shoots is a great way to get his attention and capture his expressions.
Finally, when editing and processing the photos, we like to create vibrant, energetic images but take care not to over-process the images and let Chauncey's natural character come through and maintain the authenticity of the moment.
